If you update your Instagram app, you’re going to see a brand new logo. Gone is the old Polaroid icon, which is kind of sad, but the new one is full rainbow color, which is kind of awesome. The camera design is more minimalistic to represent the scaled back new layout.

According to Instagram’s blog about the update:

“The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app.”

As far as how you use Instagram, all you really need to know is…nothing. They really haven’t changed a thing when it comes to how you navigate the app. The great minds at Instagram have simply minimized the distractions. The only color you will see is the photos themselves, profile pictures, and the notification numbers. Instagram has gone grayscale on everything else. When was the last time you heard about an app as big as Instagram involving themselves LESS so their users can experience MORE?

Well done, Instagram. Well done.

Instagram’s related apps, Boomerang, Layout, and Hyperlapse, are also getting a logo makeover.

If you haven’t updated your app yet, take a second and do that, then tell us what you think about the new layout in the comments.
