If you haven’t already heard, Google created a new company called Alphabet, and it’s BIG time! The new company will encompass the already existing Google that we know and love, as well as a myriad of other Google Products. So what is Alphabet? Alphabet is the top tier of a collection of companies, Google being the largest of the bunch. Google’s main goal is to keep on innovating and creating, while making sure each facet of their company gets the love and attention it deserves.
We all know that Google has dipped into some projects that seem off the wall from an Internet search engine. For instance, their Life Sciences Division, which created contact lenses that will monitor glucose levels in patients with diabetes, and the Liftware Spoon designed for people with tremors. Needless to say Google is cranking out some seriously groundbreaking products!
Google Alphabet will act as the parent company, while each company underneath that umbrella will have it’s own CEO. Larry Page, the Founder and CEO of Google, will be the CEO of Alphabet, while Sundar Pichai, Google’s former Senior Vice President of Products will be the new CEO of Google. His credentials far out see this position. Pichai spearheaded the creation of Google Chrome, and oversaw the creation of projects like Gmail and Google Docs. (Products the SocialVention team loves) Thank you Pichai!
So what’s going to happen to Google? Essentially, nothing. The company will still continue in its primary internet services like Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, & Android. The new change will not affect investors, either. Alphabet will eventually replace Google, and all shares will convert to Alphabet, although it will continue to trade on NASDAQ under GOOGL and GOOG.
Some of the companies that are falling under Alphabet will include Google X, a company dedicated to making major technological advancements. Some of these advancements we mentioned above, as well as self driving cars, Project Wing, (A drone service project), Project Glass, (A research and development program for hands free information display), Project Loon (Internet Access project aimed at bringing everyone Internet Via balloons surfacing the stratosphere) and many more. With so many new life altering products being cranked out, no wonder they wanted to aim their focus on the independence of each project.
Google, or rather should we say, Alphabet, is headed into a very exciting and impressive future.
As Larry Page said on their official blog this Monday, they are very excited to venture into this new project Alphabet Inc. With their focus on resulting in “Improving the lives of as many people as we can”. We will be waiting on the edge of our seat to see what Alphabet Inc accomplishes!
